BASIC SKIN CARE KNOWLEDGE
All skin care is based on the fact that our skin cells are shedding each day, they produce oil and get grimy. This is what they are suppose to do and it isn't bad.
Firstly the skin produces sebum which coats the surface of the skin providing the acid mantle, our own natural protection against outside forces. The acid mantle is able to maintain the water content of the cells and usually keep out most nasties on a day to day basis. Also, it maintains the skins own natural pH which maintains the health of all cells, it detoxifies all day using the sudoriferous or sweat glands and if they are completely blocked for any length of time we could asphyxiate. It regulates our body temperature and is a fairly waterproof covering for our underlying organs. It contains melanin our own natural protection from too much UV rays, it alerts us to all senses of touch, pressure, pain, vibration, heat and cold.
Our natural oil flow is essential for keeping the skin moist and nourished every day, our skin should feel moist to touch not dry and flaky and the more moist it is the younger it is going to look and feel.
