One of the most important pieces of information that I'd like to get across on this page is that we all have the power to make the necessary changes in health and wellbeing within ourselves.  That mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically it is and always has been up to us, that our health does not lie within the latest pill or drug or technology, that our health is paramount in everything we do as it is an end result of every choice we make.   That ultimately it doesn't matter how good the doctor, healer or naturopath, we must start by owning where we are now and making the changes that our bodies are telling us to make.

It was upon reading this famous phrase above, spoken by Thomas Edison that I experienced my eye opening epiphany moment, one that for me changed my direction in life into one that had meaning, purpose and passion,
for the very first time. I became interested in all things that contributed to our health and wellbeing, absorbed stories of healing and miraculous feats of health and endurance.

Since that time I have studied, researched and absorbed exactly what  it actually means, how it is that we have the most amazing technology and yet in the end it all comes back down to what we have always known, and now know with absolute assurance thanks to science, that this statement is more true than we could possibly conceive.
That health is not something we get when going to the doctor, nor is it out of a pill or vaccine that we supposedly lack, nor is it solely due to genetics, nor is it just the absence of disease, ill health or disharmony.

Heath is so much more than this, it is vitality, it is aliveness, it is prevention and  it is knowing the underlying reasons for imbalance which inevitably result in disease.  It is knowing that we have far more potential in our wellbeing and road to wellness than we ever thought possible, and, if we strive to only ever be just not sick, then we are not really experiencing our full reality.

Wellness is far more than this, wellness involves our mind, our emotions, our physicality, our soul, spirit, environment, our thoughts, if the doctor of the future knows this then what sort of areas will he assess?  I'd like to impart on these pages some of the things I've learnt whilst endeavouring to discover what "care of the human frame" entails, what the right diet  and right habits consists of, and what might be some of the underlying causes of most illness, therefore leading to prevention which like me I'm sure you will reach the same conclusions, we are the cause, our choices and our ignorance of what true health means, it is our own accountability that manages our health.

By no means am I advocating that what I've found is the only way, or that medication is unnecessary, or medical intervention unwarranted, most certainly in many cases they are, even essential in matters of life and death.   The medical profession is brilliant, the discoveries made over these last few hundred years awe inspiring and ground breaking for all healing professions.  The more we know the better for all therapies, allopathic or complementary.  Diagnostic techniques are second to none and what we know now about the human body as a machine is admirable, what we know about the energetic and life force attributes of the human being is also becoming more widely researched,
utilised and accepted.

The main downfall to the whole medical industry is money making corporations and industry interference. There are many points that are not disclosed to the average Joe and it is only upon this research that clarity is revealed.

Like for instance that diabetes and heart disease can be reversed and prevented, that genetic programming can also be re-programmed, that illness is not a result of whatever bugs are prevalent in the environment but rather how your immune system is functioning, that high cholesterol factoring in heart disease is a myth, that vaccinations have only ever been positive in one scenario which is small pox, that cancer and depression are preventable in most cases and that the sun is not our enemy as skin cancer is only a result of burning and other factors, not actual sun exposure, that most complementary therapies are an important part of healing, and that in fact a thoughtful and loving doctor will have an interestingly more positive & healing effect on a patient than one without a good bedside manner.

If we listen very carefully, we are told very clearly what it is trying to convey, its responses to everyday activities, food and the environment are its way of alerting us to its needs and functions, the only problem is, we don't really listen.
Over the last few hundred years we have achieved miraculous feats of brilliance for when we needed it the most, considering the leaps in technology and processes involved in maintaining continued life we have come far in a very short period of time.  But one must also consider whether maintaining life is in effect just keeping a body alive rather than giving one their life back as this involves much more.

Currently, our health care system is inaccurately named, it is a disease care system and people believe in disease, a health care system is more in tune with alternative and complementary systems of care such at Traditional Chinese medicine, spiritual healing and chiropractic care where the idea is to treat mental, emotional or physical imbalances in order to avoid illness, to bring optimal life force and ultimate wellbeing, that is health care. 

Part of the problem with the current paradigm is the belief in disease.  Where most diseases are just the result of many imbalances and mental and emotional stresses.  The disease itself is not where the answer lay, but is where most conventional systems employ their medicine. To work on symptoms is basically to miss the point, symptoms are always just results of prior causes, lets put it this way;  If a motor bike starts blowing black smoke from its exhaust, one does not employ a mechanism or tablet to throw in the exhaust pipe in order to get rid of the smoke or to mask it, it is an indication of something out of order, which first must be found before being treated.   If the same situation were classed medically it would be called something like "black smoke syndrome," or "exhaust disease" and a pill or research begun in order to get rid of it. 

Any mechanic can and will tell you that that is not the problem, there are systems out of order, blockages where there
shouldn't be and perhaps the wrong fuel used.   On the same token, we can't fill our bikes with inadequate fuel
and expect them to perform to their optimum performance levels, neither then can we possibly expect to
fill our bodies with inadequate nutritional fuel and expect them to run as they should, the results of
which may take years of accumulation to appear as symptoms, because unlike motor bikes our
bodies are so miraculous at dealing with toxins that often we are not even aware of how we
are slowly poisoning them.
These points are in no particular order but when combined together as a whole will serve to benefit our whole physical, emotional, spiritual and mental wellbeing.  The aim is to strive towards these goals rather than try and employ them all too quickly, which we all know will not last, aim to change one habit at a time, slowly and until it has been absorbed into your daily habits as normal and natural.  There are different categories to our health, that is: the physical impact, as well as the mental, emotional, and spiritual effects, these all makeup who we are, so in order to address our wellbeing, all of these aspects must be attended to equally and adequately, for if one is out of balance then it will affect all others and homeostasis is therefore compromised.

I have here a list of guidelines that at the very least aim for our healthiest potential.  Most of these ideas have come from much research and current studies in Nutritional medicine along with my completed metaphysical studies.  Most if followed will produce the desired outcome, will help lose weight, will help eliminate disease, depression and modern ailments that we are just not meant to have, as well as helping create the environment for a long and healthy life, full of vitality and abundance, however, they must be followed, and in today's world with so much temptation and inappropriate priorities it is a vigilance that must be adhered to, perhaps if we aim for at least 90% of the time. 

The question I often will ask myself when temptation is staring me in the face, is what purpose will this serve in my body?  If the answer is zero, then one must ask if it is serving no purpose positively then is it likely doing damage and creating or adding to disharmony, then finally, what emotional need is this trying to fulfill and is it likely to achieve it? Our body is a machine, it only needs what each cell requires to keep it functioning.

Many points about food and health are not widely known or accepted, I hope to elaborate on some here and also dispel some myths and fantasies.
Dead food equals dead life force, no energy input means no energy output for us, foods must be as alive, fresh and whole as possible. Alive foods provide the nutrients and energies of life, simple; to stay alive and vital, aim to eat alive and vital foods at least once a day.
Our body knows what it likes and dislikes, listen to it.  If there is discomfort, swelling, pain, etc. That is its way of alerting you, listen.  Our bodies have a significant ability to heal; pain and symptoms are just its way of alerting us, its way of asking for a bit of help, not suppression.  We have the power to change, even genetic predispositions by retraining how our body is taught to respond, health is not out of our hands, in fact the sooner we put it back into our hands the better.
Get rid of the idea of diet. Very important to our emotional health to remove the word diet from the situation. It implies there is something wrong with you, that you are not good the way you are.  I find it hard to comprehend how you could possibly nourish and want to look after something that you don't love, start loving your being, start wanting to be the best you can be by feeling the best you can.
EAT, one of the worst mistakes anyone can make is starving.  That will never, and never, has been a way for healthy bodies.  Its what we eat and how much that counts. One system of really healthy weight loss has this as its whole technique.  Eat regularly and well, it tricks the body into better usage, better metabolism and less storage.  Also, it stimulates using up excessive storage.
For longevity and better energy, the research and data is in, eat less.  They say that if you consume less (approximately 1900 calories a day), you are extending your life by up to 50%, but these foods must be providing the nutritional requirements of your cells, fulfilling all the vitamin, mineral, antioxidant and phytonutrient necessities. 
There is no pill, drug or surgery that will do these things for you, in fact part of taking responsibility for your life and health is the very potential we inspire when doing it for ourselves.  There is nothing wrong with asking for help, but to realise that ultimately change is within your hands and your hands only.  And in truth there is also no pill that will substitute the real thing, supplements may restore balance but food is always the best option.
There is no easy way, no cop out, it is not in someone else's capabilities to do any more than facilitate your participation in finding your own strength, blame therefore becomes obsolete.  However, neither is it nor should it be hard, life is meant to be enjoyed, even change for the better will be challenging, but extremely rewarding and in the end, ...Natural, find what you enjoy that is also not to your detriment.
Drink water, simple, plain, hydrating water. Preferably filtered and all day, aim to sip water frequently.
Eliminate what is not contributing to your health & wellbeing, otherwise the answers will be based on the wrong data, and also outside of self, where they can never be found.
Answers will never be found in a bottle or chasing down some new theory or medication, this is upside down thinking. Start at the cause, this is right side up thinking.
Don't be fearful of going against the norm, of being different, it takes much courage to go against the mainstream and yet is so empowering in personal responsibility, in taking back the controls of our life, towards our health and empowerment.
We are not victims of disease, more to the point, we may be victims of incredible influence and power by way of our belief in the pharmaceutical system, the media and what we are led to believe. Even genetic codes can be changed with the right influences, this research is currently happening and quite astonishingly incredible.
Start loving, love your life, all the blessings you have in it and all those around you, even if you can't see why, be grateful that they are there for you to learn and grow.  I can't begin to tell you how powerful just this one step alone can be.  Love all, love unconditionally, to love is to heal, loving thoughts create loving energy which magnifies as positive life force and creates more love.
Be grateful, this is the very next thing after love, as one of the most important things you can do for yourself, and have huge effects on life around you. Walk around all day grateful for everything, its amazing the effect this can have on life and even on the life of every cell in your body.
Eliminate all processed food, i.e. All packaged, man-made, processed, refined, white, bleached, floured, (canned ok in small doses) None of these foods have any actual or real nutritional value.  Not to mention the damage they do and disease precursers they are.
Eliminate all sugar, and its substitutes.  This includes soft drinks, cereals, sauces, cordial, and most processed foods, it includes "sugar free"  as they then use even more unhealthy substitutes.  Stevia a naturally sweet herb is fine.  Be careful what the labels contain, however, if you eliminate most processed food, hence...no labels!
Aim to eliminate or reduce Dairy.  Consider organically sourced as your best option, and always use whole milk, butter and natural yoghurt, not flavoured sugared and low fat varieties, its not the fat content in dairy that makes us fat, (it's the dairy itself) we need to consume fat, healthy fats that know what to do in our body. Once a day is plenty, calcium from green vegetables is more absorbable to our cells anyway.
On that note: Low fat diets are not doing us any good, nor are they helping us lose weight.  It isn't the fat content its the type, quality, frequency and amount of food. 
Eliminate or reduce caffeine and dependencies on substances, this is one of the first ways of discovering what it is we truly need for health and happiness.
Eliminate ALL processed meats i.e. Bacon, ham, devon, sausage, frankfurts, salami, cold cuts, manufactured meat, these all contain sodium nitrate which when in your body turns into nitrosamines a known, powerful and well documented carcinogenic.
Eliminate Aluminium and Mercury, now this may involve avoiding vaccinations which is a whole other debate.  Look out for it in deodorants, dental fillings, cooking utensils, liquid food storage containers, drink bottles.  These two poisons are leading causes in many long term and debilitating "age related" and neurological disorders and illnesses.
When I refer to age related, what this means is that most of what the medical industry term age related is simply a build up over time of toxic overload and many years of abusing our cells with ingredients they were not designed to absorb or eliminate.
Eliminate the need for microwaves, plastics and Teflon.  Teflon is carcinogenic, and yes it does come off in cooking, plastics leach dioxins into food and drink when heated, microwaves destroy the components of food making them unrecognisable and therfore toxic to our cells.
Eliminate the need to cook in oils even olive oil, coconut oil is the only safe oil to heat that does not change its makeup to create carcinogenic material called acrylamides.  Add oil after cooking as the Mediterranean diet encourages.
Eliminate Margarine and hydrogenated vegetable oil products - these are processed synthesized rubbish, not fit for human consumption.  You are fooled into believing that it was better for you, it is not, it is left over rubbish.  If essential, use the real thing, butter, it is far better for you, it is real.
Eliminate/avoid where possible, excess use of chemicals, colourings, flavourings, msg, additives, pesticides, synthetic fertilisers, herbicides, antibiotics, hormones, gm food, preservatives, lead and so on and so on.  All carcinogenic and debilitating for our health just in the chemical toxic overload, if these things are consumed regularly or if the system is compromised or vaccinations unavoidable there are tihngs you can do to lessen the impact. Cancer is simply a malfunction of your cells, we are in effect all predisposed to it, all of our cells could at any moment get out of control.  Eliminating all the causative factors that we know about is a pretty healthy insurance policy.
Eliminate all makeup and skin care items that contain lead and other harmful chemicals such as sodium Laureth sulfate, propylene glycol, synthetic preservatives, colourings, flavourings and too many numerous others to mention here.  Also keep in mind, natural does not always mean good, organic does not always mean healthy. Companies use these words to trick you.
Eliminate all chemicals in the environment, cleaning products and such.
Reduce reliance on grains and carbohydrates as staples.  One serve a day is plenty. Fibre is better found in vegetable matter and doesn't increase weight.  If they are consumed they must be wholemeal, wholegrain, and as natural as possible. This includes rice, pasta, bread, cake, crackers, biscuits, and alternatives. White, refined carbs are a healthy weights worst enemy.
Reduce red meat to once or twice a week, and I can't stress how important it is to be organically raised and cared for.
Include chicken and especially fish, but again, consider only organically raised varieties that are chemical, hormone and antibiotic free, fed on their natural diet and allowed to roam in their natural habitat.
Include antioxidants - very important!  One of the best ways to help your body cope with the amount of daily chemical input, spells disaster if not adhered to.  Green tea, high antioxidant fruits, supplements or superfoods. 
Increase as much fresh and raw matter as possible, vegetables, salads, fruits, seeds, good fats all these are essential for proper brain and immune function. Good fats include avocado, coconut oil, olive oil, flaxseed oil, nuts, seeds, make sure your omega 6 to 3 ratio is in balance.  Increase omega 3.

Helpful supplements are Omega 3 fish oils, vitamin C, B group vitamins, vitamin D, acidophilus, antioxidants, superfoods, green tea, calcium and magnesium, LSA,  it does depend on your needs, but these things are often deficient in many.
Exercise, do something, anything, make sure you enjoy it, that it fits with your lifestyle and do it at least 3-4 times a week. Benefits and reasons are too many to name.
Sleep - essential in a healthy body, good restful sleep, stop fighting it, the body lets you know when it is tired, naps are healthy as long as they are not too long and are avoiding life.
Sunshine - Yes, we need it! Vitamin D is essential in most body functions, cholesterol issues just being one to mention and most of us are lacking in it. Recent studies are proving how lack of Vit D is contributing to many major illnesses including cancer, in fact there are many studies that now report up to 70% of some cancers can be prevented just with Vitamin D. Recommendations are approximate: It needs to be regular, 3-4 times a week, without sunblock, more than 40% of skin exposure, in safe time zones, after washing or swimming, for 20-30 min's or as final resort take a supplement.  Sun exposure does not lead to skin cancer, however, skin burning may contribute to it.
Be careful of fat free diets and foods advertising low fat content.  Reducing fat does not equal weight loss, reducing the wrong foods for your body type will, and unhealthy non useful foods will.
Check for food intolerances, metabolism, hormone balance, and other contributing factors.
See disease or illness as a challenge to overcome or learn more about yourself rather than something you believe or allow.  Fight for your health using the very best research available, the very best in all health fields, get second opinions, seek reversal of such labels rather than conformity or acquiescence, you owe it to your grandchildren.
Focus on the positives.  It is on what we focus, that we experience. What do you want to experience?... Then focus on that.
Party food is for parties, consider the frequency of things that as little as a hundred years ago did not exist and certainly not on a daily or even weekly basis. That doesn't mean we have to deprive ourselves of treats, just know their value and perhaps their ability to have a healthier option.
A study done on rats illustrates the comparative health of the standard American diet of processed foods, highly sugared pretend food compared with the natural mostly raw diet of rats.  All rats fed on the SAD diet were violent, discontent, unhealthy, produced less offspring and developed all of the common diseases of our time, the others lived a normal, healthy long life, developing none of the symptoms or health issues as the others.
What you see in the media or being advertised generally needs a healthy skepticism, I believe that if something is pretty awesome it won't need advertising, what then is the objective of these companies? To make money, or sort out your health.  Its what you don't see that would be more worthwhile spending time researching. Media coverage is conflicted by legalities and sponsorships, the version you see conforms to this.  The medical system in my belief is not the answer in many cases, however their consultation is recommended and gives us an idea of which directions to follow, medicine alone can be limited and an open minded professional is always the best.
Relaxation, meditation, stress relief, rest, there are many things one can do to take time out for yourself.  Meditation, prayer, yoga, all these activities are necessary to include daily in a healthy life.  Our bodies cannot wait for holidays, it must be regular.
Power of our thoughts, thoughts can influence our reality and every single cell in our body is affected by what we are thinking and creating, if it is not inline with our true being, our truth, then it will be affecting us detrimentally.  How we think creates our life, what we attract to ourselves and circumstances around us show us this.  How we respond is under our control, what we put out there in thought is what will be returned to us in some shape or form.
Be happy... It is a choice, not a set of circumstances. Choosing to see things for their value and worth is healthy, blaming and complaining is not.
Have a healthy attitude, it is not what happens to us, it is how we react to it that matters.
Ask questions, don't believe everything you see or read, or hear, healthy skepticism serves us well, it represents reclaiming our own individual power, empowerment.
In a 2001 study done in the USA, the number one cause of death over and way above cancer and heart disease is iatrogenesis, i.e. Medical intervention.  Is the medical system held accountable? I'm certain if it was a naturopath that he would be.
Medicine often serves only to suspend the healing process as it shuts down the bodies natural responses to illness. Are we looking in the wrong direction? are we brainwashed by the system? 
If the truth were known about the cancer industry, for instance, many would be horrified to learn that the answers and even cures are out there already, but often what holds them concealed is that they cannot be synthesized and therefore patented.
Fear, anger, negativity, guilt, resentment, all these emotions eat away at us, do your health a favour and deal with them. These emotions can create many illnesses & contribute to cancer prone cells.
Think success, talk success, have a belief in the outcomes you want for yourself, everyone has the power and capabilities of being dynamic, and creating the life that you want. Never doubt yourself, use love instead.
Sing, laugh and dance, these things create wonderful endorphins that make us 'FEEL' good
Beauty is an inside job, it doesn't matter how much makeup, clothing, jewellery or activity you do, if you don't feel good, you don't look good.
Be of service, give, without condition, or thought for return, selfless service is one of life's little luxuries that adds immeasurably to your good feelings.  Give to yourself, by appreciating, honouring and respecting what you have, all these good thoughts are what you are sending out there and will be returned to you.
Apart from gratefulness, be honest, positive, tolerant, forgiving, loving, compassionate, empathetic and understanding.  Seek the truth in all that you do, not just what you believe but what is true for others as this helps to uncover false beliefs and untruths that are largely based in fear. False ideas and concepts disturb our homeostasis.
Law of attraction is as real as the law of gravity, believing it and using it can change your whole world.
Create good Karma - what you put out there in the world, how you act, what you project onto others is what will be returned to you, in a nut shell, what is it that you are receiving, that will indicate what changes you may want to address.  Life will reflect back to you what you have projected.
Have faith in a divine power and, that all is as it should be, physical life ends eventually, and our soul must take with it all that has been learned and gained in our life time here, make it worthwhile.
Connect to your inner source, your higher self, seek guidance and be in touch with who you really are, as the more we respond to life from this place the more we evolve.  We are all divine, we are all connected, we are all one, the more you evolve, the more others around you will also.
Take care of your body, have the massage, maintain it well, chiropractic treatments are very important for your central nervous system, look after its welfare, nurture and honour it and it will reward you.
Every single emotion that we have has an impact on our cells on an energetic level, every thought and emotion that is out of alignment with the truth of our being will in fact be detrimental to our health, more info on the spiritual therapy page.
All these points, I have found after researching prevention for a variety of different disorders, to be some of the main ingredients in reversing, treating and healing many of today's growing common and debilitating ailments such as arthritis, heart disease, cancer, obesity, depression, inflammatory diseases, neurological disorders, emotional disturbances and diabetes.  It seems that the same common threads of prevention and treatment correlate and are noted in treatment protocols of many of these afflictions.   Therefore, often when a patient changes his lifestyle for one reason, he also notices unexpected benefits for another ailment or two. Even if it was just something as simple as less cravings for instance.

You may notice that there are many things that can be classed as carcinogenic, and that if we were to worry about that, we wouldn't be able to leave home or even eat at all.  This is the argument many present when confronted with such a dilemma.  What you don't know is that most things classed as containing carcinogenic material have been stringently tested and a compromise is reached on what is considered the safest human consumption levels of that particular item. However, most items are consumed in varying proportions and just one exposure may not contain enough of that material alone, yet when combined with many other carcinogenic or toxic factors becomes a lethal quantity.  There is also the argument as homeopaths believe that the smaller the concentration, the stronger the effect. 

Very indicative and particularly sad recent research illustrates this point by recently claiming that the amount of toxic overload in a newborns cord is beyond normal or acceptable limits, dioxins for instance have been found in little new born's that have little to no ability to remove these items from their systems.  We could just stick our heads in the sand and ignore these issues, but they are real, not fabricated, not some story or make believe facts, what can we do about them?  We make better choices, these choices are what drives industries. Research is also being done on the damaging effects of vaccinations on society, and there is still to this day not viable or credible research done on vaccinations actual efficacy. A Compromised Immune System

One of the most common ailments we have to deal with any regularity is colds, flu and seasonal disturbances.  I've found that if I follow the prevention methods illustrated above, the frequency will be far less, however at those times when the immune system is obviously compromised the following  measures can be introduced for a far more effective method of dealing with the at best distracting, and at worst debilitating and life threatening symptoms.  Following these steps in the first stages of the body showing signs is the moment to begin, not later, as by the time the body is showing symptoms we are way past the beginning of illness. These measures will serve to re-educate the body in how to cope with its symptoms, they don't ignore symptoms they help the body deal with it, therefore not shutting the bodies natural healing mechanisms down and extending the life of illness, rather, aiding its recovery much faster and more effectively, leaving the body better able to cope
with the next round of illness.  
Crushed garlic, lemon and honey with Green tea, drink throughout the day, time and again I have found this my rescue remedy.  All the other folk have atrocious bouts of the flu, cough for weeks and weeks and yet won't even consider this simple effective remedy.
Vitamin C - loads of it, a good dose of 1000mg every hour or so will help overcome many bugs
Vitamin D - excellent resource for building the immune system, those ol folk remedies.
Essential oils - inhaled, massaged, bathed in.  Some of the best anti-viral oils - tea tree, thyme, eucalyptus, lavender, geranium, lemon, basil, niaouli, rosemary, ginger, sandalwood, there are many options, never use more than a few at a time.
Immune strengthening herbs and tonics - echinacea, astragalus, marshmallow, goldenseal, olive leaf, colloidal silver, these are all readily available.
Consideration of all contributing factors to illness, perhaps the whole body is needing detoxification, look at chlorella, spirulina, detoxing, fasting, cleansing or de-stressing.
Acidophilus - a Probiotic that keeps the good bacteria up in the gut, this is often the reason we get sick in the first place, especially helpful in cases of gastro related illness, stomach nausea, gastro etc. Can be taken as often as every hour.
Zinc, vitamin A, Salt water gargle, Propylis bee pollen, excellent antibacterial solution.
